Scary/sad movie with I THINK Frankie Muniz in it?

I believe it's Frankie Muniz.. It can't be too old, because he himself
looked pretty mature.
The plot was something along the lines that he was an artist and he
drew mostly comic book stuff and the girl he fell in love with died,
and all I remember is the ending when he was in an insane asylum and
he drew her face all over the walls.
